Azerbaijan, Israel discuss development of bilateral relations

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with a delegation led by Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Eli Cohen who is on a visit to the country.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov hailed the current level of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the two countries, noting that Azerbaijan attaches great importance to the development of relations and the expansion of successful cooperation with Israel in various fields.

The FMs exchanged views on issues in the political and economic spheres, including energy, education and research, high technology, digitalization, tourism, humanitarian and many other areas on the agenda of multilateral cooperation. They commended the activities of the Joint Commission between the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Israeli Government, which hosted in Baku, expressing confidence that it would contribute to the further diversification of relations.

Touching upon the historical friendship and cooperation between Azerbaijan and Israel, FM Bayramov stressed the importance of mutual visits and contacts between the two countries. He noted that the meetings and discussions held in this regard are of great importance in terms of further deepening partnership, as well as further development of bilateral dialogue.

The sides expressed confidence that the opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Israel would help strengthen the Azerbaijani-Israeli relations that have been developing over the past 30 years and have stepped into a qualitatively new stage.

The parties expressed their readiness for further development of political dialogue at various levels in all areas of bilateral relations, as well as on international and regional issues.

During the conversation, the ministers also discussed other issues of mutual interest.

The FMs signed the "Program of educational cooperation between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the State of Israel for the years 2023-2026" on the sidelines of the meeting.
