Foundation stone laid for Tbilisi State Azerbaijan Drama Theatre named after Heydar Aliyev

A foundation stone has been laid for the Tbilisi State Azerbaijan Drama Theatre named after Heydar Aliyev in the capital of Georgia.

Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ali Asadov, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili, state and government officials of the two countries attended the groundbreaking ceremony.

Addressing the ceremony, Prime Minister Ali Asadov said that the cultural ties based on historical roots had contributed to the centuries-old friendship, peaceful coexistence and mutual understanding between the two countries’ peoples.

He also highlighted the great contributions of a number of Georgia’s cultural and art figures to the public and cultural life of Azerbaijan.

“Giving a new breath to the Tbilisi State Azerbaijan Drama Theatre named after National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev is a historic event. We highly appreciate the fact that the building is located at one of the fascinating and important parts of the city of Tbilisi,” the Azerbaijani PM noted.

“It is also remarkable that the groundbreaking ceremony for this cultural center coincides with the year marking 100th anniversary of National Leader of the Azerbaijani people Heydar Aliyev. Georgia has also hosted a series of events to mark this solemn event. On my own behalf and on behalf of the government and people of Azerbaijan, I express gratitude to distinguished Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, the government and people of Georgia for showing respect and paying tribute to the bright memory of Great Leader Heydar Aliyev,” PM Ali Asadov emphasized.

Highlighting the importance of the event, Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Garibashvili said: “The groundbreaking ceremony for the Tbilisi State Azerbaijan Drama Theatre named after Heydar Aliyev is a manifestation of the strong friendship and cooperation between Georgia and Azerbaijan.”
