Chief of Azerbaijan’s State Security Service, Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev has met with Secretary General of the Council of Europe Marija Pejčinović Burić in Strasbourg, France.

During the meeting, the Azerbaijani side has signed the Council of Europe Convention against Trafficking in Human Organs.

Marija Pejčinović Burić described Azerbaijan’s joining this convention as a milestone event.

Touching upon the bilateral relations that have been developed for many years, the minister expressed his confidence that the cooperation would be successfully continued in the future.

Colonel-General Ali Naghiyev highlighted the current security situation in the region, adding that Azerbaijan was always interested in establishing lasting peace in the region.

Secretary General Marija Pejčinović Burić noted that the Council of Europe always attached great importance to maintaining peace in the South Caucasus and that the organization can provide the necessary support to this process.

The sides also exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest.
