Azerbaijan, Congo discuss agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation

Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Jeyhun Bayramov has met with Francoise Joly, the Presidential Adviser for International Strategy of the Republic of Congo.

The meeting saw discussions on the agenda of bilateral and multilateral cooperation between Azerbaijan and Congo.

FM Bayramov described the development of cooperation with African countries as one of Azerbaijan's essential foreign policy priorities. The Azerbaijani minister mentioned the ample opportunities for enhancing relations between Azerbaijan and Congo across political, economic, trade, energy, educational and humanitarian domains.

Hailing the mutual support of the two countries within the Non-Aligned Movement, the UN and other international institutions and platforms, the pair explored opportunities for Congolese students to study in Azerbaijan under the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Scholarship program and the participation of Congolese representatives in the Youth Organization of the Movement.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov also highlighted the opportunities for cooperation created by the upcoming 29th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP29) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, to be held in Azerbaijan this year.

They also discussed other bilateral and multilateral issues of mutual interest.
