The liberation of Karabakh is not only Azerbaijan's victory but the victory of the entire Turkic world.

President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan made this statement while speaking to journalists accompanying him during his visit to Azerbaijan.

Referring to his speech at the military parade held on the fifth anniversary of the Victory in the Patriotic War, the Turkish head of state emphasized that the positions of Ankara and Baku today best embody the idea of “One nation, two states.” He noted that Türkiye openly supported the just struggle of the Azerbaijani people during the war.

Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that Türkiye-Azerbaijan relations, elevated to the level of alliance through the Shusha Declaration, are actively developing in all areas, including the implementation of concrete projects.

The Turkish leader noted that during the visit he had the opportunity to meet with his Azerbaijani counterpart and discuss bilateral relations.

The politician welcomed steps taken in the peace process between Azerbaijan and Armenia and expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the August meeting in Washington: “After more than 30 years of instability, a window of opportunity has opened for peace and tranquility in the South Caucasus. The swift completion of the peace process will allow victorious Azerbaijan to become the architect of peace in the region.”

Erdoğan stated that Türkiye continues to take steps toward normalizing relations with Armenia and “coordinates its efforts with Azerbaijan.”

He noted that Türkiye has conveyed to dialogue participants that any violation of Azerbaijan’s interests in this process is unacceptable.

Highlighting active steps for the restoration of Azerbaijan’s liberated territories, the Turkish leader said: “Today, under the leadership of my brother Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan is taking large-scale steps to restore the region. Roads and tunnels are being built in various parts of Karabakh, agricultural projects are being implemented, and residential buildings are being constructed. In this regard, we are taking all necessary steps to contribute to Azerbaijan’s efforts.”

Erdoğan specifically highlighted Azerbaijan’s successes and achievements during Ilham Aliyev’s presidency: “As a political leader who closely followed developments both during the late Heydar Aliyev’s presidency and Ilham Aliyev’s, I know very well what happened, where, and when. I sincerely congratulate Ilham Bey and his team.”

The President of Türkiye once again congratulated the fraternal Azerbaijani people on Victory Day and State Flag Day.
