The closing ceremony of the "CIS Capital of Culture - 2025" was held in Azerbaijan's Lachin city, organized by the Ministry of Culture and the Special Representative Office of the President of Azerbaijan in Lachin district.

In his remarks, Masim Mammadov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Lachin district, highlighted the significance of the event for the city of Lachin.

Mammadov hailed 2025 as a year that brought new energy to the city of Lachin, characterizing it by vibrant cultural exchange and significant international cooperation.

Highlighting collaborations with the Ministry of Culture and the CIS Interstate Humanitarian Cooperation Fund, he stated that this year's joint efforts have established a strong foundation for future cultural and public partnerships.

Addressing the event, Polad Bulbuloglu, MP and Chair of the Parliament's Culture Committee, emphasized the importance of selecting non-capital cities with significant cultural and historical value as cultural capitals. Noting that the proposal to nominate Lachin for the status of the CIS Cultural Capital was initiated by President Ilham Aliyev, Polad Bulbuloglu expressed his deep gratitude to the head of state on behalf of the committee.

Farid Jafarov, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Culture, described the designation of Lachin as this year's cultural capital as a clear testimony to the restoration of cultural dynamics in the country's liberated territories.

The Deputy Minister mentioned that over 15 successful multi-faceted events were held in Lachin during the year, which he believed significantly contributed to the city's cultural revival, establishing it as a dynamic platform for regional cultural cooperation.

The event continued with an artistic program.
