First political consultations held between Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Thailand
The first political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand have been held in Bangkok.
The Azerbaijani delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov, while the Thai delegation was headed by Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Vijavat Isarabhakdi.
First, a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations between the Foreign Ministries of both countries was signed.
The discussions then focused on the current state and future development prospects of bilateral relations in political, economic-trade, cultural and tourism spheres.
The importance of further expanding cooperation between the two countries on multilateral platforms was emphasized.
The Thai side was informed about Azerbaijan’s peace agenda, measures taken to clear the liberated territories of mines, as well as large-scale reconstruction and restoration work being carried out in those areas.
During a meeting with Thai Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow, the sides hailed the current level of political relations between the two countries. They noted that the opening of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Bangkok and the holding of the first political consultations will contribute to strengthening cooperation in various fields.
Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov also met with President of the National Assembly of Thailand and Speaker of the House of Representatives Wanmuhamadnoor Matha. The meeting highlighted the important role of inter-parliamentary ties in developing bilateral relations and expressed satisfaction with the effective cooperation established on multilateral parliamentary platforms.
As part of the visit, Deputy Minister Elnur Mammadov gave interviews to Thailand’s influential TNN channel and the parliament’s television channel. He also attended a ceremony organized by the embassy to commemorate the day of remembrance of the National Leader of the Azerbaijani people, Heydar Aliyev.
In addition, Deputy Foreign Minister Elnur Mammadov delivered a speech on Azerbaijan’s foreign policy priorities at the King Prajadhipok’s Institute operating under the Thai Parliament and answered participants’ questions.
