Leyla Aliyeva attends "Human Fraternity Majlis" event in Abu Dhabi
On February 3, Leyla Aliyeva participated in the event titled "Human Fraternity Majlis" at the Zayed National Museum in Abu Dhabi.
The event commenced with a video address by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence of the United Arab Emirates.
Following the opening video, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, and Saida Mirziyoyeva, Head of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, addressed the event.
Cardinal George Koovakad read out a letter from Pope Leo XIV addressed to the event participants.
Then, a video highlighting the “Zayed Award for Human Fraternity” was screened.
Megawati Sukarnoputri, former President of Indonesia and member of the jury for the Ziyad Award, as well as Nehmat Aoun, First Lady of Lebanon, and Verónica Alcocer García, First Lady of Colombia, delivered remarks at the panel session titled "Women's Leadership as the Foundation of Human Fraternity."
Addressing the panel session, Leyla Aliyeva noted that respect for diverse cultures, religions, and traditions has long been an integral pillar of the way of life in Azerbaijan. She underlined that by growing in a friendly environment and with firm family values are key to shaping children into strong personalities for the future. Highlighting the activities of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Leyla Aliyeva emphasized that the Foundation has built or renovated many schools not only in Azerbaijan, but also in Pakistan, Georgia, Bosnia and Herzegovina. Underscoring the importance of changing the education system with the advancement of new technologies, Leyla Aliyeva said that this process has already launched.
Leyla Aliyeva stated that both parents and teachers must value children, treating them with respect and ensuring their voices are truly heard.
Touching on the importance of protecting children from the adverse effects of social media, Leyla Aliyeva stressed that Azerbaijan is currently exploring ways to protect minors from harmful information based on the best global practices.
First Lady of Pakistan Aseefa Bhutto Zardari also addressed the event.
