Exhibition of young Azerbaijani artists on Novruz holiday opens at UN headquarters
The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the United Nations in partnership with the “Revival” Youth Social and Psychological Rehabilitation Center arranged an exhibition featuring works by young Azerbaijani artists entitled “Art for Cultural Diplomacy “Azerbaijan – Where the East and the West meet” at the UN Headquarters in New York, U.S.
The opening ceremony of the exhibition, organized on the occasion of the International Day of Novruz, established by the resolution of the UN General Assembly dated February 23, 2010, brought together representatives of the missions operating in the UN, diplomats, as well as other guests.
In his remarks, Azerbaijan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Tofig Musayev highlighted the importance of the Novruz holiday for the Azerbaijani people and their cultural heritage. “Novruz is a holiday deeply rooted in the values of peace, mutual understanding and cultural diversity. This holiday also strongly reminds us of the role of culture in promoting unity and dialogue among nations. It is worth mentioning that it was Azerbaijan that initiated and supported the resolution of the General Assembly on the recognition of the Novruz holiday as an international day,” Musayev emphasized.
Speaking at the event, Azerbaijan’s candidate for the UN’s Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) Farid Adilov shared his vision for the committee’s future initiatives, noting that he had conducted bilateral meetings at the UN and engaged in discussions with various state representatives in this regard.
The exhibition, showcasing 34 paintings by 18 artists on the themes of Novruz holiday and Azerbaijani culture, will run until March 27.
