Azerbaijan, EU hold talks on bilateral documents
Delegations from Azerbaijan and the European Union met in Brussels to resume talks on a new bilateral agreement and to hold further discussions on the Partnership Priorities document.
Deputy Foreign Minister Yalchin Rafiyev led the Azerbaijani delegation, while Audrone Perkauskiene, Deputy Managing Director of the European External Action Service (EEAS), headed the EU side.
The discussions, conducted in a constructive spirit, contributed to a mutual understanding of positions on both documents and set the stage for the next phase of negotiations.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold the next round of negotiations in Baku in early June.
The Azerbaijani delegation included representatives from several key government bodies, including the Ministries of Economy, Justice, Energy, Digital Development and Transport, Finance, and Labour and Social Protection, as well as the Central Bank, State Customs Committee, SOCAR, and other regulatory institutions.
As part of the visit, Yalchin Rafiyev also met with European Commission Deputy Director-General for Climate Action Jan Dusík and Deputy Director-General for Environment Patrick Child. During the meetings, the sides exchanged views on creating an Azerbaijan–EU dialogue format on climate action and environmental issues, as well as on the COP process and relevant initiatives proposed within international organizations.
