Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, met with Khaled Fawaz Zaarour, Minister of Information of Syria, and Mohammad Tafran, Syrian Deputy Minister for Digital Media and Development Affairs, on the margins of the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum.

During the meeting, the sides hailed the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and Syria across all areas. They emphasized the important role of the meetings between the countries’ leaders and the Syrian President’s visit to Azerbaijan in advancing relations between the two countries. Discussions focused on cooperation between the two countries in the field of information and media.

Hikmet Hajiyev expressed his gratitude to the Syrian Minister of Information for participating in the Shusha Global Media Forum. He noted that next year Azerbaijan will assume the chairmanship of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and will host the Summit of the organization.

The Assistant to the President mentioned that Azerbaijan will host a meeting of the OIC Information Ministers, inviting the Syrian minister to attend the event.

During the meeting, the sides also explored bilateral cooperation in cultural, humanitarian, and educational spheres. The Syrian side highly appreciated Azerbaijan's school reconstruction project in Syria within the framework of ICESCO, calling it a testament to the friendship between the two countries.

Azerbaijan's unwavering support for Syria's political unity, territorial integrity and sovereignty was commended at the meeting.
