Cooperation Program signed between Prosecutor General's Offices of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan
As part of a visit to Azerbaijan, an Uzbek delegation led by Prosecutor General Nigmatilla Yuldashev held an expanded meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart, Kamran Aliyev.
The sides highlighted that the friendship, brotherhood, strategic partnership, and alliance between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, based on high-level mutual trust and political will, have fostered dynamically developing bilateral relations in all areas of cooperation.
They also noted that the purposeful policy implemented by the heads of state has created a solid foundation for cooperation between law enforcement agencies to reach a qualitatively new level.
The officials recalled the visit of the Azerbaijani delegation led by the Prosecutor General to Uzbekistan in September 2025 and its participation in the 6th Meeting of the Attorneys/Prosecutors General of the ECO Member States, as well as the 4th Meeting of the Council of Prosecutors General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS).
The parties underlined that the visit made a significant contribution to the further strengthening of institutional relations between the prosecutors’ offices of the two countries and the development of multilateral legal cooperation.
The meeting also featured discussions on prospects for bilateral legal cooperation.
The prosecutors general stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in the areas of mutual legal assistance in criminal cases, extradition, identification, seizure, and confiscation of criminally acquired property, combating transnational organized crime, corruption, cybercrime, terrorist financing, human trafficking, and other modern manifestations of crime, as well as the application of digital technologies, professional training for prosecutors, and the exchange of experience.
The Prosecutor General's Offices of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan signed a Cooperation Program covering the period 2027-2028.
The document is intended to further strengthen institutional cooperation between the prosecutors’ offices of the two countries through expanded mutual visits, joint training, expert exchange, and coordinated activities within international organizations.
Nigmatilla Yuldashev expressed his gratitude for the hospitality shown to the Uzbek delegation.
He emphasized that the General Prosecutor's Office of Uzbekistan attaches special importance to the development of cooperative relations based on mutual trust with the Prosecutor General’s Office of Azerbaijan, adding that all necessary efforts would be made to continue developing bilateral relations.
Nigmatilla Yuldashev was awarded the Jubilee Medal "100th Anniversary of the Azerbaijani Prosecutor’s Office (1918–2018)" in recognition of his significant contributions to the development of cooperation between the prosecutorial authorities of Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan.
Subsequently, the Uzbek delegation toured the History Museum of the Prosecutor General's Office, where its members were given detailed information about the history of the establishment of the prosecutor’s office, its stages of development, institutional reforms, and modern areas of activity.
