Azerbaijan, Iran discuss prospects for military cooperation
Azerbaijan’s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, who is on an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, met with the Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics, Major General Mohammad Reza Gharaei Ashtiani.
Prior to the meeting, Defense Minister Colonel General Zakir Hasanov familiarized himself with various military products demonstrated in the exhibition hall of the Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Major General Ashtiani stressed that religious, historical and cultural ties between the peoples of the two countries are based on traditional friendship. The Iranian minister stressed that the development of military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran is an important factor.
Thanking for hospitality, Colonel General Hasanov noted that the Azerbaijani-Iranian relations have a long history and are built on solid foundations.
Colonel General Zakir Hasanov invited the Minister of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics of the Islamic Republic of Iran to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan.
The meeting highly appreciated the activities of the joint working group established between Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Defense and Iran’s Ministry of Defense and Armed Forces Logistics to develop military cooperation, as well as measures taken under bilateral agreements.
They exchanged views on the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Iran in the fields of military, military-technical and military medicine, the organization of mutual visits of expert groups and other issues of interest.
The sides then signed a protocol.
