Baku hosts event marking 30th anniversary of establishment of Azerbaijan-Russia diplomatic relations

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Ministry has hosted an event and exhibition marking the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation.

The event was attended by officials of Azerbaijan`s Foreign Ministry and the Russian Embassy in Azerbaijan.

The event featured the performance of the national anthems of both countries.

Azerbaijan`s Deputy Foreign Minister Fariz Rzayev noted that despite the establishment of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia on April 4, 1992, the history of relations between the two countries is much older.

He hailed Russia's role as a mediator in the normalization of relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan, noting that the full implementation of all provisions of the trilateral statements is an important condition for achieving peace and stability in the region.

Addressing the event, Russian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mikhail Bocharnikov highlighted the dynamic development of relations between the two countries over the past 30 years, noting that relations have been steadily rising. He noted that the Agreement on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Security between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan dated July 3, 1997 will soon celebrate its 25th anniversary.

The ambassador underlined that the development of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia is based on the good relations between the two heads of state, as well as the close historical ties between the two peoples.

At the end of the event, the participants viewed the exhibition dedicated to the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Russia.
