Speaker of Islamic Consultative Assembly: Iran is always ready to support the establishment of communication links between East Zangazur and Nakhchivan
Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has met with the Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf as part of his official visit to Iran.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov pointed to his visit to Iran in December 2020 and the cordial meeting held during the visit, and expressed the importance of reciprocal visits in the development of bilateral relations.
The Minister noted the importance of the meeting of the Presidents of Azerbaijan and Iran in Ashgabat, as well as the meeting of the co-chairs of the State Commission for economic, trade and humanitarian spheres between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Islamic Republic of Iran, the visit of the Iranian Foreign Minister to Azerbaijan, the importance of telephone conversations held between the Foreign Ministers, the visit of the delegation of the Iranian parliament to Azerbaijan, development of inter-parliamentary relations, as well as the importance of the meetings of working groups on inter-parliamentary relations.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov underlined the participation of the vice-speaker of the Iranian Parliament in the Baku conference of the Parliamentary Network of the Non-Aligned Movement.
Referring to the cultural and religious fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf pointed out that the development of relations of the Islamic Republic of Iran with neighboring countries is a priority issue. He emphasized that the Iranian side is interested in the development of economic and trade relations.
Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that Iran is always ready to support the establishment of communication links between the East Zangazur Economic Region and the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, and that the Iranian side is determined to implement these projects. At the same time, it was expressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran is interested in participating in the reconstruction and restoration works in East Zangazur and Karabakh economic regions of Azerbaijan.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed the opposite side about the current regional situation, the proposals put forward by Azerbaijan for the establishment of peace and stability in the post-conflict period, and the steps taken in this regard.
At the same time, it was noted that the liberation from the occupation of the 132-kilometer border of Azerbaijan on the border with Iran creates new opportunities for cooperation.
At the meeting, the sides also discussed other regional issues of mutual interest, and emphasized the importance of ensuring peace and stability in the region.
